Age and basal FSH as a predictor of ART outcome
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Female age and basal FSH level are independently associated with IVF outcome. They are both related to the same phenomenon, namely ovarian reserve. Objective: To evaluate the effective role of serum FSH concentration at the start of treatment cycle on ART outcome. Materials and Methods: A total of 207 women undergoing IVF and ICSI cycles were included in this study. Basal FSH concentrations were measured and the women's ages were calculated before they were undergoing pituitary desensitization and its correlation with ART outcome was evaluated. Results: Increasing FSH was associated significantly with reduced number of follicles > 15mm, oocytes retrieved, and embryos obtained. Conclusion: Age is the most important prognostic factor but basal serum FSH can be used to identify women who are very likely to perform poorly in ART, probably because of diminished ovarian reserve.

O-34: Assessment of Endometrial Volume by Four-Dimensional Ultrasound As A Predictor of Pregnancy Outcome in IVF Patient Who Refer to Royan Institute
Background: To investigate whether endometrial volume on the day of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) administration is a predictor of ART (assisted reproductive outcome) outcome Materials and Methods: Two hundred and seven patients in ART cycle were included in this prospective study; In order to evaluate endometrial volume and its relationship to ART outcome. Endometrial volume obtained from...
متن کاملAge As a Predictor of Embryo Quality Regardless of The Quantitative Ovarian Response
Background One determining factor of a successful IVF cycle is embryo quality. The aim of the present prospective study was to evaluate the associations between markers of ovarian reserve and ovarian response and embryo quality MaterialsAndMethods One hundred and twenty infertile women, aged 21-44 years, undergoing routine exploration during an unstimulated cycle that preceded ART at our center...
متن کاملCan Elevated Levels of Basal Follicle Stimulating Hormone Predict a Decrease in Fertility in Young Women Undergoing ART Cycles?
An appropriate clinical evaluation and a proper treatment of women are essential for a positive outcome of assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles. In order to obtain good results it is necessary to assess ovarian reserve before planning treatment. The determination of ovarian reserve by measuring day 3 basal FSH among normal cycling women is one of the most commonly used tests for predic...
متن کاملP-154: Comparison of Pregnancy Outcome between Low Dose HCG in Late Follicular Phase in GnRH Long Protocol and Standard Long Protocol in ART Cycles
Background: A safe, simple and cost-effective protocol is important goal in ART cycles. The aim of this prospective study was whether administration of low dose HCG in late follicular phase can be used clinically to replace gonadotropins administration in GnRH long protocol. Materials and Methods: 69 patients who were candidate for assisted reproductive technology (ART) enrolled the study and r...
متن کاملMaximum basal FSH predicts reproductive outcome better than cycle-specific basal FSH levels: waiting for a “better" month conveys limited retrieval benefits
BACKGROUND Elevated follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is associated with poor vaginal oocyte retrieval (VOR) outcomes and cycle cancellations but intercycle variability in basal FSH reportedly does not predict ovarian response. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of basal FSH (n = 15573 cycles) in couples (n = 9132) who initiated IVF cycle(s) with basal estradiol (E2) <100 pg/m...
